| On this day members of the
NPHC and our sorors bring elementary school children to the
campus for an afternoon and facilitate tours of the campus. We
hope this fosters their fascination with higher learning and
continuing education which hopefully results in them enrolling
in an accredited university. We have the students participate in
an essay contest each year with a theme picked by the Chapter.
The essays are then displayed throughout the Moyer Student Union
during Black History Month. |
| |
| This is
the only Black History program conducted annually on the campus
of UNLV. Each year we have different themes that honor the
accomplishments African Americans. |
| |
| This is
one of Eta Chi's oldest and largest community services. The
Delta Gems is an Up Lift Club that promotes scholastic
achievement and community service. The club consists of High
School girls ages 14-18. We lead the girls in workshops that the
chapter deems necessary for success in their current academia,
the collegiate atmosphere, and the transition into young
womanhood. |
| |
| One of
the chapter's most recent annual programs that began in October
1999. This event allows us to facilitate conversations at the
University regarding world issues that concern, women, or
African Americans. With this program we hope to raise the level
of awareness through verbal communication about current social
issues concerning women and the African American community. |

| Eta Chi
has just recently committed itself in a partnership with the :as
Vegas Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with
this nationally recognized program. The Delta Academy reaches
out to under privileged girls from the ages 9-14. We serve as
mentors and tutors in the hopes that we can raise their spirits,
self-esteem and GPA's. |
